Unmarx Teams Up with Career Dress To Change Lives

22 Sep

Volunteers Robin Lynch and Cindy Benedict founded Career Dress, a woman’s boutique located in The Lighthouse of Oakland County, 11 years ago. The women realized the need for a service such as Career Dress while working in Emergency Services at The Lighthouse.

Career Dress serves as a one-stop-shop to help low-income women in Southeast Michigan who are actively pursuing employment, the tools and self esteem that empowers these women to succeed.. Experienced volunteers style and completely outfit women with interview clothing, shoes, handbags, undergarments, toiletries and an Unmarx to put the finishing touches on every outfit. In addition to providing guests with an Unmarx of their own, the volunteers of Career Dress use Unmarx in their boutique to keep the garments clean from lint, deodorant marks and other dried residues.

Once employment is secured, Career Dress is able to provide at least two additional complete professional work outfits. On average, Career Dress helps approximately 30 women a month feel and look confident when they go on an interview. Since 2003,Career Dress has assisted over 3,000 women in need.
